Subject: I too am someone who's been considering the America system. Here's my only "gripe" with this system and others. The age. I personally think, and it's my own thought even though I know the rules, but Mrs. pageants should be for 26 and over as that's the age that Miss' generally age out. If you would still be eligible to compete in a Miss pageant but for the fact you married, you should wait until your 26. But I know that's not the rules, just wishful thinking.

:) Good topic.

In reply to: Mrs. 's message, "To all the directors out there and to those who've been around this system for a while (meaning more than 5 years), what does this system look for in it's winners? Taking a look at the states themselves there's a wide range of winners from young (24) to older (44) that's a 20 year age span. Click in for a bit more." on 05:34:40 07/14/10 Wed

[> [> Subject: Great discussion! Remember that we are considered adults at the age of 18; are allowed to vote, marry, serve in the armed forces & potentially give our lives for our country all at the age of 18. I can't imagine someone telling me I can't compete for the title of Mrs. America because I'm not OLD enough to embody what a married woman truly is. Chances are at 18 years old I wouldn't stand a chance against a 30 year old anyway, but how fair would it be for that opportunity to be taken away from me? Age discrimination is no different than gender or race discrimination. We have enough of that in the workplace, can't we keep it out of pageantry? If you want a pageant that has age restrictions, then go find one that meets your criteria, but don't ask the pageants who accept ALL of us to change the rules just to assuage a few. Mrs. America doesn't seem to discriminate based on age, Each year is very unpredictable. I've never seen a pattern in this system & I like it that way,
