Actor David James Elliott, who previously headlined CBS’s “JAG”, is starring in SciFi’s upcoming original mini-series, “Knights of Bloodsteel.”
Elliott recently spoke to TV Guide’s William Keck about the lead role and having to wear hair extensions to play the role of John Serragoth.
Serragoth wields swords to battle evil, fire-breathing dragons as forest-dwelling warrior out to avenge the death of his pregnant wife.
Elliott told Keck that filming has been intense, showed Keck a black and blue mark he received from a sword that “nearly slashed my eye out.” That would have left him looking much like his character’s chief adversary: the all-powerful Dragon Eye, a character David describes as “a whitish-gray demon with a third eye that opens and shoots out bolts of lightning.”
“Knights of Bloodsteel” airs on SciFi April 19 and 20.

New DJE News! A new miniseries and TRT update... -- Barbie, 16:09:17 03/12/09 Thu [23]

First, a new miniseries to be shown July 19 & 26...called The Storm. According to The Futon Critic:

In "The Storm," also from RHI Entertainment, billionaire Robert Terrell (Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Treat Williams, "Everwood") has fulfilled a lifelong obsession and made history with "weather creation" technology though his Atmospheric Research Institute. But during a test run, a blast of energy is sent into the ionosphere with unexpected results. The experiments hurtle the planet towards destruction-hurricanes change course, winds go instantly from hot to cold, torrential rains bring regions to a standstill, and buildings crumble into ruins under explosive lightening storms. It's only the beginning.

Only one scientist, Dr. Jonathan Kirk (James Van Der Beek, "Dawson's Creek"), steps forward to demand that the system be terminated. Terrell is undeterred and continues to push his team to move forward. His motives for the initially philanthropic technology is in truth far more opportunistic. - Ahh, ya never know -- the caliber of actors and actresses in this are really good and fan favorites, so it could turn out to be refreshingly entertaining and suspenseful. Barbie went looking on Google for SWF player to download and there are tons of them. You hear so much about being careful with free downloads; do you know any that are 'clean' and reliable??? I have Adobe already on my computer and saw one download for Adobe together SWF. Might that be a good choice. - This is the one I use for SWF and FLV files. I'm giving you a link...you can either download it for free or purchase it. I have the free version and it works very well. This is the PC version, but they also have one for the Mac.

Tandem makes Impact in US

German producer-distributor Tandem Communications has scored a sales coup for its miniseries Impact, placing it with a big five US network and selling second window rights to a major cable channel.

The 4x60' series, a coproduction with Canadian outfit Muse Entertainment and US indie Jaffe/Braunstein, will launch in the US on terrestrial network ABC.

NBC Universal-owned cablenet Sci Fi will then air the miniseries' second Stateside run.

"By respecting the sensibilities and expectations of the US market and ensuring a high level of casting, storytelling and pacing, we were confident we would find a home for Impact in the US," said Tandem MD Rola Bauer.

Impact, which was partially financed by Germany's ProSieben network and Spanish channel Cuatro, had previously sold to more than 90 territories in Western and Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

The miniseries follows a team of scientists who must risk their lives to save mankind after Earth is struck by a meteor. David James Elliott (Close to Home, Jag), Natasha Henstridge (Eli Stone) and James Cromwell (Six Feet Under) are among its stars.

I'm nancyeddy, forum mom and a DJE fan. I live in East Texas, and have been married for 30+ years to Frank. We have two kids, Stacy, who's developmentally disabled and lives at home, and Steven, who's in the Army and married to Rochelle, with two great step kids. They live in Upstate NY.

I first 'found' David when I saw the previews for a new series that reminded me of my son's favorite movie at that time: "Top Gun". Being the daughter of a former Navy Avionics Tech, I was interested anyway. But once I caught sight of a tall, dark haired guy wearing Dress Whites, I was hooked. I watched the show when I could, and over time caught up on it thanks to USA's reruns.

I admire David because he's a great family man, and one of those actors who tend to make anyone else in the scene with them that much better. I'm looking forward to seeing the movies that he's done in the last couple of years, and hope to see him again on the 'small' screen as well on a regular basis.
