.:. He watched as the pendant disappeared into her pocket. Okay...if she wanted it that close to her core. Had she not realized yet that her identity was the key factor to why she’d hadn’t been mauled? Zeth watched with sharp gray eyes her every movement and her every vocal sound. She wasn’t human, that was obvious. She wasn’t vampire nor was werewolf. She wasn’t shifter for she didn’t have the smell of animal upon her. He shrugged broad shoulders and took a seat. Chivalry dictated to let her seat first but Zeth had grown up in a modern age where most tricks of the trade were lost. He watched her from his new roost and she extended one small fist. The scare lighting of the tunnel caught her rings and that’s what caught his attention to her extended hand. She listed off her name and noted that he was free to leave. He shook his head again slowly. “No, I won’t leave you until you’re safely on your way to whatever place you so carefully forgot to mention.” He crossed his ankle against his knee, extending an arm along the bench’s spine.

But her comment about killing his wife broke his serious expression. His eyes wrinkled into little crow’s feet and his lips issues a rust chuckle. She was a keen observer obviously and a creature that knew something about family values and virtue. “The mother of Lucian is not my wife. She was a one night stand which involved fruit loops and a little breakfast of champions.” He put the sentence together without trying to be delicate. He figured she’d been around the block enough that he should not pussy foot around such stories. “My wife is Alicia. We’re childless amongst ourselves.” There was a tinge of longing in his voice that he hadn’t meant to let slip. This longing lay heart in the fact that he would appreciate a child that wasn’t always trying to kill him. Without command his eye filtered to the slight bulge in her breast pocket. It gave her breast a odd angel to them. If only he’d be so lucky for Tarot to move along and destroy it.

A silent settled upon them then as his chuckle drifted down the drafty tunnels. “There isn’t another shuttle until morning. Why did we even come? Wouldn’t be wiser to stay in a hotel for the night and journey back come morning?” He posed the question as his eyes worked through the tunnel maps and times posted on the an opposite wall. He hadn’t introduced himself on purpose. What was the point? She didn’t know his name and he didn’t know where she was going. It all seemed pretty even to him.
