Jen,you and I have had this conversation many, many times but I don't know if Jordan is aware of our thoughts and thought process on using dogs with worse than average or crappy scores!!LOL

I will defend to the death my decision to use a dog or a bitch that has a crappy score....as long as it is done with the correct research, and this must look at the parents, grandparents and if possible great grandparents scores of that dog,the siblings scores of same dog,and THEN I will make sure that whoever I breed that dog to has nothing less than great scores and where possible look at the previous generations and the siblings, half siblings etc.
This breed is nowhere near the stage that we can simply dismiss a dog for having a poor score in one aspect when they are outstanding in others. We look at fitness,is that dog impeded in any way or in pain at all,if so we don't use, simple as that.I have thrown dogs out of my breeding programme when I first set up-how stupid was I,now I have learned and it was a hard lesson.First things first you MUST test,we test hips, elbows, eyes, not just ent/ectropion but full BVA eye test and gonioscopic test,if the pups are heavyweights we prescreen including shoulders and knees,we do the hyperplasia test,we test the stud dogs semen, what have I missed,LOL.
Jen,I know you do the same,Jordan what do you officially test for? BTW,NOT a trick question, genuinely interested in how you test your breeding stock as we have known dogs with crappy scores who can get over 6ft fences, dogs with great scores who wouldn't even try that etc.
We have used dogs with not so good scores and achieved amazing results and then used dogs with amazing results and got a kick in the head from their pups!!How do you win????
