There were a few times that I was going to get grounded for a long time or from something I really wanted to do and I'd ask for a spanking instead. My folks usually would agree to cut the severity or length of the grounding and agree to spank.

No, but would've possibly, especially at school as an option to avoid after school detention.

My parents gave ample warnings before tanning my butt & I knew certain misbehavior would result in my bottom getting paddled or a whipping and those were more at adoloescent & teen years and from dad rather than mom.

I knew one guy at school who went into HS never paddled or in serious misbehavior who wanted to rid himself of a good boy image to be more 'one of the guy.' Set himself up for a trip to the office & got his paddling. He felt it a right of passage or something worth peer approval.

There was a time when me and three of my friends cut study hall and got caught running in the auditorium. The principal said he was not going to spank us because the lady teacher in charge of the study hall had already told him she wanted to spank as we had cut her study hall. She instructed us to come to her classroom after school and she would deal with us then. When we went to her room she gave us all an option of a spanking over her knee or after school detention for the next month. Three of us opted for the spanking and one for detention. We were spanked that very day we opted for it. As I recall, she spanked pretty hard for a lady!

My brothers and I were subject to spanking as long as we lived at home. My older brother figured out that the spankings didn't bother me as much as they did him, so he would agree to drive my friends and me around if I took blame for something he did and take the spanking for him. This only worked if I could pass it off as something I did. If he got in trouble at school there was nothing I could do.

In our home if you earned a grounding it always started with a hard bare bottom spanking. If the grounding was for more than a week we were spanked weekly as a reminder why we were grounded.
