Subject: MAO prep planned this whole thing. Problem was the contract was between Marion and ISA. With Mao trying to terminate the contract after the state pageant still left contract in good standing. In Mao agreement with states says to pay all expenses then release to Mao.

MAO planned nothing. They had no intention of doing anything in Illinois until WGN showed up at the state pageant and put them on the spot. Within a week of WGN's confrontation, MAO pulled the plug on Amalia and her entire Board. So MAO's reaction was knee jerk to help reduce the damage of the news story that was about to hit the airwaves. That said, the money held by the City of Marion was supposed to be for the program, and Amalia no longer held the rights to the program. It has always been the rule that any left over funds get turned over to the new group. I also think that if MAO had a brain, they'd call for an audit of the funds spent over 9 years by AS and GS. I'll bet that would stop the old group in their tracks. Wonder what type of reimbursements were paid out to Board members over nine years? I'd like to be a fly on the wall when that becomes known. Which works if you're not a crook who has already fleeced the organization and would drain the account if given half the chance before ever giving over a dollar. Amalia wasn't let go because of her scrupulous business practices, so she couldn't be counted on to release the funds. (NT)No name16:43:01 01/25/16 Mon
