Subject: Wouldn't the judges already know Amelia was a previous titleholder? They would have read that on her resume. Numerous other contestants likely also placed on their resumes that they were previous titleholders or contestants, and how well they have done in other competitions. To my knowledge, there are no rules about when videos are played. This appears to me to be grasping at straws for complaints.

While there might not be an official rule on this, it is in poor taste to give any contestant more attention in front of the judges than another. Playing a farewell video of a contestant that is also an outgoing titleholder before judging is complete would be within the realm of poor taste. As a general rule in pageantry, if you think it might look bad or create drama, just don't do it. There will always be people that complain about things, but this appearance of impropriety could have been avoided with a little common sense. I fully agree with what you're saying, but I guess I'm confused about the complaint. Neither Adrien's, nor Amelia's videos were played prior to judging be completed, but a number of girls could have been in any of those videos. I think what's being taken out of the equation is the integrity of the judges. At this point, they already know each contestant's background and have interviewed the contestants as well. To worry that this one thing will influence the judging in any significant way implies that you can't trust the judges' ability to judge. I don't think the judges' integrity is in question; and the state organization has measures to prevent the local directors from influencing the outcome. Without question, there were examples of poor judgment on Saturday night, but ultimately they were not made by the judges themselves. I was just making a comment about the appearance of impropriety that a seasoned local director should have realized. I didn't see the pageant and have no opinions on the outcome either way. Having seen Amelia at state, I have no doubt that she did well this weekend. Unfortunately poor decisions by "management" sometimes turn what was a perfectly clean judgement and deserving win, into something that people will question.
