Grainy,

I think I get the picture here! This is a real warning to the hobby. We have the need to police ourselves closely as a terrorist act of using a vehicle of any type to depict an emergency vehicle to commit a crime against a US target would put everyone and I mean EVERYONE in our hobby under even closer scrutiny! We as a group drive more accurate copies of the original police vehicles than could be used in a terrorist act but we would all be grouped together as a problem when and if such a situation occurs. I hear exactly what you are saying here and I agree we need to watch what we are doing. A simple mistake on the part of a newer vehicle being mistook for an actual emergency vehicle is more likely than an older vehicle that is beyond 20 years of age. However, even when I was helping a show participant in retrieving their vehicle off of a trailer two older ladies made the comment with the vehicle standing on the trailer "well, you're with the State Police... why don't you know that direction"? I had to politely note to them that the state police vehicle was from two states away and that it was a show vehicle. Now, this was a simple enough mistake but it was with a car that was over 25 years old! Bottom line is that we all need to take extra precautions in driving and showing our vehicle responsibly! Take the time to cover your lights and signage to properly conform to the laws of the road. If your car is a daily driver with strobes and lighting, make certain that you disengage them unless you are an emergency services worker that is authorized to use the vehicle as is! And one final thought, Lock your vehicle up as unauthorized use of your vehicle in an act of terrorism or a crime is also a possibility and a real threat! We want this hobby to grow and grow in a positive manner! That's more than my 2 cents... thanks!
