Hey Guys,

Thank you for your very thorough response, it was nice reading about your family too.

You mentioned you were waiting to see how it ended, well, it might take a while to find out. The next chapter in the history of my families ranch is starting to be written. Jesse is now becoming very active in the management of the ranch and Wyatt will join him after college. Those two will be writing the next chapter and hopefully, someday, another generation will take over.

Last year when they acquired another 1500 acres of land from Jesse and Wyatt's Mom's uncle, half was placed in Jesse name and the other in Wyatt's name. I know Jesse and Wyatt have been buying cattle to expand their heard. So, the story will continue.

Since the days of homesteading, another generation took over the ranch, raised between 6-10 kids, worked hard, suffered through bad time and celebrated good times. All the time praying and trusting in God. The had great crops at times, some year they had bad crops, grasshoppers, bad grain pries, good prices, etc. Through it all they managed to survive and move forward.

As time changed they adapted. Tractors, first steam and later gas, replaced horses for planting and farm work, Model-T trucks replaced horse and wagons. Today they use semis to move grain to market and haul cattle too. Farm equipment became bigger and more powerful. Learning how to farm from your Dad was replaced with getting an agriculture related degree at the State University.

Yeah, we have pictures of our ancestors and early homes on the prairie. Old farm pictures are great to look at.

A number of the local business have been started or run by my family members. Connor' dad has his own insurance business, another owns the local hardware store. Most of the buildings in town date back to the early 1900s. All the older buildings have be removed.

I have watched "The Little House" TV series and I read a couple of Laura Ingalls Wilder's book in grade school. We did share many experiences, but I believe so did many, many others to homesteaded the Great Plains.

I have more to write, but this it for now.
