LAMPY:
I couldn't find the source of "alive in 1932" date you used so I went with the 1930 Census which was actually April 7th when the Census Taker talked to him.
There is a March 1931 Brooklyn newspaper "blurb" which mentions "GEORGE L. MARION" (actor) which I discounted because it sounded more like "GEORGE F." from the info given:
Headline: "In Support of Arlen"
Text: "George L. Marion who went on the stage in 1884 with a minstrel show, has been cast in Richard Arlen's new Paramount picture, "Roped In".
Still active at the age of 73, Marion works regularly in all of Hollywood's major studios. He first played on a Los Angeles stage when the city had a population of only 15,000."
I don't find a movie of that name or a Richard Arlen movie from that time with either of the GEORGE's in the cast. GEORGE F. was born in San Francisco in 1860 so they were close in age. I'm pretty sure that our GEORGE L. never got west of the Mississippi before his release from prison in 1918. Our GEORGE L. falsely claimed that he was half of the blackface (minstrel) act of MARION & PEARL but he was such a "bullshitter" that he may have perpetuated the lie figuring people would forget.
In the book, "Monarchs of Minstrelsy" p.294 (1910), the author says:
"GEORGE MARION, recognized as one of America's most efficient producers and stage-managers, played the 'bone end' of Lew Dockstader's Minstrels located in New York, in 1888.
GEORGE MARION was born in San Francisco, July 16, 1860."
Thus, I think the 1931 newspaper blurb mistakenly named GEORGE L. MARION when it should have named GEORGE F. MARION.
The latter is a better "fit".
You read my mind, LAMPY. Not having found GEORGE's death date, I posted a lot of sources in hopes that someone would have enough info to find it!
Seeing how you found SCOOTER LOWRY's death, I still have hope! KEEP SEARCHING and POSTING!
