How come the judge Tyler Everett was allowed to judge the teens? Him and the third runner ups father played football together. That seems a little biased to me.

I understand where the concern is coming from, but it’s important to remember that pageant judging panels are made up of multiple individuals to ensure fairness and balance. One judge alone doesn’t decide the outcome—it’s a collective decision based on scoring across all areas of competition.

Also, having mutual connections—like having played on the same football team years ago—isn’t the same as having a close personal relationship that would create bias. The third runner-up earned her placement through her hard work, poise, and performance just like everyone else. It’s unfair to discredit her accomplishments over assumptions that aren’t backed by facts.

From the Judging affidavit for Miss America

“ Conflicts of Interest” for this purpose shall include: any facts or circumstances which would from the common
sense standpoint of a member of the general public be perceived as compromising the ability of a judge to
objectively perform his or her duties; and specifically, any relationship or interest of a judge, the employer, the
business, or the family of a judge, with a participant in the competition, the family of a participant, or the local or
state organization from which the participant in the competition has been a part.”

[> [> [> [> [> Subject: OMG- he knew him 20 years ago! He knows thousands of ppl from back then as a pro football player. They clearly don't have the level of relationship that would influence his judging. If he did 'know' him, what if he thought her dad was a jerk? Whoever the 3RU was, she earned her placement.

[> Subject: this really sounds more like an "Oh, what a small world we live in" coincidence than something that was meant to give the young lady of whom you speak an edge. And this was clearly posted by a competitior - is this really in the spirit of sisterhood?

[> Subject: He wouldn’t have known ahead of time due to them not having a relationship, so he didn’t even know the stepdaughter’s name until she mentioned who her stepdad was. Then he replied that he knew him. And if he had discovered it was a conflict, he would have abstained.
