Subject: CLRG does not make it easy to get certified. We need more schools.
In reply to: parent 's message, "Why have numbers declined so much? i have a friend with a top show dog and she said that the Covid problem wiped out most of their competitions and many have not come back." on 15:19:02 10/01/25 Wed

WHile I don't think the actual test really addresses the correct things that should determine who will be a competent teacher.... for the moment, I'm going to ignore that.

Just the logistics of getting through the steps of the existing test is very time consuming. I know potential teachers that have spent MONTHS, even YEARS getting through the Grade exams. Many areas of the country do not offer many tests regularly. One friend is trying to find grade 12 and has been looking for a full year to find one that doesn't require flying across the country (we are in US). There are lots of additional rules that make it harder to find a test (can't repeat judges, have to wait three months between each test... even the beginner ones that are simply hoop jumping for a champ level dancer). IT seems nuts that dancers could end up spending $1000 on a grade exam. Flights across the country, two hotel nights, transport to airport, food, test fees. It's nuts.

Once she finds that grade exam...WHO KNOWS when the next actual TCRG exam is. There is no info available. Spaces are limited, and the price is high.

SO, since the number of dancers is so low... wouldn't it make sense for the CLRG to at least make sure that there were a reasonable number of opportunities for new teachers and schools to get started.

Please note, that I'm not asking to make the test easier (although I don't see the point of some of it, but also think most candidates can handle it just fine). Just make it more available.
