Chapter Two “Redwall”
Lilic Songbreaze sat on the wall singing
“Lily’s of the valley are sprouting in the meadows,
And the lone lark is singing a love song to his love
Oh lily’s of the valley,
And the lovers are loving,
The lone lark is singing a love song to his lover
Lily’s of the valley are growing everywhere,
Lovers are a dancing,
The lone lark is singing a love song
All the lilies have bloomed,
And the lovers have been wed,
The lone lark is with his mate at last!”
Lilic sang in a voice as sweet as Songs “Well done, can you sing that again for a skipper of the otters?” Lilic turned around at the sound of the voice “Hello Skipper!” she said softly “I thought you were out Lancepaws fort?” Skipper scratched his back “I was… But the dibbuns put a price on my head” he told her. Lilic smiled “what did you do this time?” she asked him. Skipper explained what happened, by the end of the tale Lilic was laughing “Oh Strongflow!” she giggled, and Strongflow smiled. “Why hello Skipper!” Lilic turned around and saw Abbess Checkery. Strongflow grinned and answered “why hello Abbess Checkery!” the Abbess smiled “And what may I ask brings you here?” she asked. “Dibbun trouble!” he told her. “Oh! I would know about that” the Abbess told him. “Okay! Well lets go into eat!” Strongflow said, he rubbed his hands together happily. “Oh sorry skipper but we already ate!” Lilic told him, and then she laughed at his sad face. “Don’t worry we just ate lunch and breakfast, but not dinner” Lilic laughed. “You little rascal! You are as bad as a dibbun” Strongflow laughed “I’m going to get you for that!” Strongflow started chasing her, and they ran off laughing. Abbess Checkery smiled and said to herself “some beast never grow up”…
“Mmm good soup” Strongflow explained “My favorite Hotroot!” “Should be good me and TearDrop maid it!” Lilic told him. “Look at those three dibbuns over their” Strongflow said, trying to change the subject. “Oh you mean Melina Belina, Blackbark, and Purr” Lilic laughed “those three are some bad ones”. “Well dibbuns can’t be good all the time” Strongflow told her “at Lancepaw its Penny, Opal, Silverclaws, and Fleeter!” Lilic nodded “you told me!” she said “well I hope they don’t give us much trouble getting them to bed, and with DAB and all”. “DAB?” Strongflow asked, “what’s that?” “Dibbuns against bedtime!” Lilic told him, and she rolled her eyes “its there new club” she lowered her voice to a whisper “And it’s the worst one yet!” “Hmm very bad!” Strongflow said, and they went on with there conversation.
“First we hit kitchen! Den da cellar “ Melina whispered to her friends. “What a great idea!” Purr whispered back”. “Good one but we also should rub the inside of all the cups with hotroot!” Blackbark told them. Melina giggled “Good one Blackbark!” she giggled, and Purr giggled with her. “Well let’s do it right after they put us to bed!” Purr suggested. “That’s a good time,” Melina said, and Blackbark agreed. “Well did any other dibbuns want to help?” Melina asked. “No, know other dibbuns wanted to help, so we are on are own!” Blackbark told them. Melina giggled “Okay we strike tonight!”
“Shhhh, not so loud!” Blackbark whispered “they might wake up!” “Sorry” Purr whispered back, as they snuck down the stairs into the kitchen, Melina had honey, Blackbark hotroot, and Purr had squishy soap.
“Okay! Melina slime the pots and pans, I will do the cups and beakers, and purr put the soap on the cellar stairs, then as we leave please do the kitchen floor!” Blackbark told them. “Yes sah” they answered. Purr started to spread the soap, and she slimed the stairs, floor, chairs, and counters. Melina took the honey and spread it inside the pots and pans. Blackbark took the hotroot, and rubbed it on the counters, beakers, cups, bowls, plates, silverware, and any place he could think of! Blackbark stepped back to look at their work “It’s perfect! We did a good job,” Blackbark said happily. “We did didn’t we!” Purr said. “Yep! Now lets go slime the stairs with the rest of the soap and honey!” Melina laughed out. “Okay!” Blackbark answered, and they walked out of the kitchen…
“Look at those quill pen” Blackbark said, “we should hide them!” “Great idea!” Melina agreed “We should hide them under the table!” so the dibbuns ran and hid them, then went to bed…
(I can’t tell you what happened until chapter four! So you will have to wait!)
