No logos/insignia on Richmond�s new FieldTurf

The University of Richmond had FieldTurf installed at First Market Stadium (an on-campus, multipurpose facility) last summer and from the pictures on its Web site it appears there are no logos and/or insignia on the field. The stadium is home to the school's field hockey, track, and soccer programs.

At present, Richmond football plays its home games at the University of Richmond Stadium, a 21,319-seat, off-campus facility owned by the city and leased to the University. (FYI, the University owns the land the stadium sits on.) However, there is a proposal to move all home games on campus to First Market Stadium by 2007 after the construction of an approximately 9,000-seat grandstand (with new locker rooms underneath) and a two-story brick structure that includes a press box, eight luxury suites, and a room for university functions. (FYI, there�s room for more fans on a grassy bank behind one end zone.)

Not sure, but both the URI and Richmond sites are run by ocsn.com so they may have screwed up. The pictures are indeed of Richmond's First Market Stadium though. Re field markings, I�m not really sure what the groundskeeper is doing, but there are no logos or insignia on the field. Does anyone know how it's done at Giants Stadium where both football and soccer are played on FieldTurf? I've never been to a Metro Stars game, but in game highlights I've seen on TV I don't recall seeing Giants/Jets insignia or football markings (yard lines, hash marks, etc.) on the field. Found this on the �net (April 10, 2003): Montreal's McGill University has opted for FieldTurf as the new artificial surface for Molson Stadium, but the contentious issue of how the lines on the field will be handled has yet to be decided. The Montreal Alouettes want permanent football lines, to avoid hassle. The Canadian Soccer Association wants the field left blank - or to have permanent soccer lines, within which temporary football markings could be added when needed - so it can win FIFA approval to use the stadium for internationals. "That decision will be made in the next few days after everybody gets together and has a talk about it." How it�s done at Giants Stadium -- From a February 25, 2003 New York Giants press release: �FieldTurf's unmatched versatility will greatly expand the frequency and variety of events that the NJSEA [New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority] can host. With FieldTurf's patent-pending process of installing and removing sport-specific field markings, it will be simple for Giants Stadium to host a soccer game on a Saturday night, and a football game on Sunday. I suppose this is how it will be done on Jack Coffey Field too. Logos, insignia, and sport-specific field markings will be installed before to each game. If this is the case, both Joe Scaltro and Frank are correct. The field will be blank (per Joe) but will have logos/insignia for games (per Frank).
