Subject: It's a Joke, Right?

A colleague of mine (a former varsity athlete at Rose Hill) said there's a rumor going around campus that consideration is being given to changing Fordham's colors and scrapping "The Rams" as the name for our teams. Has anyone on this board heard this rather bizarre story? I'm assuming it's an early April Fools' Day joke, and that a good puchline is forthcoming. But, around Fordham, one never knows....crazier things have happened.

Yes, it's true that it's a joke and you've been had. (NT)DamnRam23:05:43 01/31/05 Mon

As posted on the other board, it is likely a misintepretation. If anything, the correct story should be hailed. I heard that Father McShane personally directed that the black and reds which had crept into our unifomrs had to go. We shall return to maroon and white, which are our traditional colors. I hadn't heard about the logo, but as posted on the other board, it looks as it had been lifted from Dodge. It is good to learn that the President is noting such things. Am I having a "senior moment" or are our official colors maroon & gold. (NT)Jimbo6508:30:08 02/01/05 Tue

How about worrying about the athletic department management first, before we worry about what color our uniforms are. I'd root for our teams wearing teal and pink if it would mean every team would finish over .500 and some would make the playoffs. (NT)Get Real08:51:57 02/01/05 Tue

Winning seasons come and go, unfortunately at FU almost always go, but sloppiness, ignoring tradition etc. ad nauseum engendered an environment where 2-26 and 0-11 were tolerated and even worse expected. (NT)Jimbo6509:33:14 02/01/05 Tue

Joltin Joe, I agree with you and have suffered through both sports for many years. I remember when fball went 7-4 (2001 season), a joyous event, and have attended the bball games this year. My post was more directed at the one following my first comment about tradition. Colors do matter, that's why the stripe on 5th Avenue is green on 3/17. When I attended FU, we had a live ram at the bball games and I think at the FU/NYU fball game. IMHO tradition aka ritual is something missing from today's culture. (NT)Jimbo11:15:44 02/01/05 Tue
