Subject: Thanks for the comments, Go…’gate. I have nothing against the PL -- it’s the need-based aid system I dislike (from recruiting perspective). E.g., if indeed the above recruit is mulling offers from Fordham and the scholarship programs mentioned in the article, the only shot we have at landing him is if: (1) His family’s financial situation is such that he qualifies for enough aid to match the value of the athletic scholarship offers he’s getting. (2) His family is wealthy enough to pay for his Fordham education. (more below)

If he falls anywhere in between, i.e., he’s from a hard-working, middle-class family (dad’s a cop, firefighter, salesman, etc. -- mom’s a teacher, nurse’s aid, office assistant, etc.) our shot at signing him will be much more difficult if scholarship programs (like New Hampshire) are offering him a full ride.
