The Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago website is finally up at www.missuniversett.com. The official face shots of the 17 semifinalists for the 2011 edition of the pageant have been posted along with SS shots. OH THE WONDER THAT IS PHOTOSHOP!!! While I like the fact that the pageant company is doing a good job at marketing each of the 17 ladies – I miss the days of Peter Elias and Associates when we got individual shots of the ladies (minus any photoshop) at the screenings. I recall Valene, Jenna, and Gabby becoming a favorite based on her untouched SS photo.
Anyways, all the ladies look good and some look totally different from their screening photos. .Now I have only been able to look at 8 (I have a poor internet connection)
Regardless, here are my thoughts on the 8 photoshopped SS pics:
Cherrese De Abreau, 26: Great body but I just don’t see any international appeal at all or any potential to place in the international final. She also looks short in her official SS pic. However, I think she will be one of the local 8 finalists. I don’t need to see more.
Shinequa M. Francis, 18: Va-va-voom face. Totally stunning facially and I love the haircut!!! Her body is not in top shape but I see some real potential in this young lady. Additionally, she looks tall and has a natural pose in her SS pic. She needs to work on her mid section and get some ab definition. It would improve her SS impact greatly. I definitely want to see more. She is my pic for a top 8 spot…could place in the final 3.
La Tisha Hospedalis: I don’t like the sideways pose as it obscures a large part of her physique. The face does not look stunning in the pic at all. However, I think she was the lady in the pink SS who screened in Tobago so I am going to say she is in contention for a the local final 8. I need to see more though.
Kareesia Henry, 20: I don’t see her as a top 8 local finalist.
Now at this point, I do have to say that based on these pics, the Tobago finalist slate was GOOD.
Now for the others:
Britteny Alverez, 21: I don’t see her doing anything on the international scene. She looks tall though so may sneak in to the final local 8.
Renee Bhagwandeen, 22: For a second, I thought it was LaToya with a new weave. She is definitely a top 8 finalist. She looks good in this photo but I still don’t see this translating into someone who could realistically place in the MU finals. I guess I am still turned off by her modeling pics- she literally looks like skin and bones with no real curves to speak about. Facially though, she is very beautiful. She will be a contender for the final 3 of the local competition in my opinion since she knows how to work the stage and her height is a plus. For now I just don’t see her placing in the top 15 of MU at all. Personally, I would like to be pleasantly surprised when I see her in the final (without the photoshop) because I really want the best rep. for TT but I just don’t see it as yet from this young lady. I just don’t see what the big hype is about.
Greer Iton, 25: Top 8 finalist in my opinion. Top 3 possibility. For now I think she looks way better in SS than Renee. She is in the running for MUTT2011 based on this pic but I don’t know her height. She can do well on the international scene if she is at least 5’8”.
Gabrielle Walcott, 26: It is obvious she has lost at least a few pounds since the screening. The makeup is horrible but she is definitely international material. This is probably the worst photo I have seen of Gabby thus far. Still top 8 finalist and a definite contender for the crown. You can put her onstage with the best and she will still stand out-PERIOD!
Out of these:
Most Beautiful Body: Greer Iton
Top 15 MU contenders: Greer Iton and Gabrielle Walcott
Local TOP 8 FINALISTS:
The ladies I am sure of : (1) Greer Iton, followed closely by (2)Gabrielle Walcott and way down (3)Renee Bhagwandeen.
Renee's appeal in my opinion is only local. Based on her official SS photo, I can't see her doing anything at the preliminary of Miss Universe. Greer Iton is a very pleasant suprprise. I can see her doing very well in the SS preliminary competition of MU and she has alot of great appeal. She is currently the best in SS out of these 8.
