I have to thank you all because I am loving this friendly discussion. I am seeing some very educated and well articulated points. Having said that I need to clarify an earlier point I had made.

When I said "Miss Universe was looking for girls not women" I did not mean it in a disrespectful way. I feel as though the person crowned in recent years has been that girl that you want to chill with. You want to go and lime on the beach with her, hit up a few clubs, the fun bouncy type of girl. I feel the winners of the 90's were more career driven, they were more goal oriented and the pageant was more based on charity education, those themes. Which are more realistically embodied in a woman who is more mature, settled and grounded. fast forward to the current era and we dont have that stress on charity and maturity and it's basically a big party pageant and the winners usually reflect that. And I love it. It makes it different it makes it fun I am just saying that we have to stop stressing the old ideals and really embrace the pageant for what it is now and choose candidates that reflect that.

Leonard you bring up good points that Mexico was more Mature as wells as Canada but no where near the same category as Lara, Mpule, Denise etc of the early 2000's on pageant night. I think the crown matures you over the year but I think it comes down to this MUO of this era is looking for someone who lives in the now verse the MUO of the past who were looking for women to change the future.

As for Peter Elias. We owe all of our pageant successes to Petter. I have worked with him and he is a great person inside and out. Sorry to burst some bubbles but He did have a hand in choosing Latoya's dress so even he can get it wrong. I agree with the point made that he does know pageants well but the MUO of the last 5 years so we need a team that can make the jump.

Now some one also brought up the Miss Bahamas delegate. Ladies and gentlemen with all due respect. A picture does not she preparation.. Meaning A lot of girls especially from the caribbean look great in photos and then are way too demur during the pageant. so I tend to not comment on delegates, especially caribbean delegates till the competition starts just because I know their history of a lack of preparedness when they arrive.

...he has had some serious gown flops in my opinion but, as a franchise holder, he certainly has the best eye for beauty and no other pageant franchise holder has come close. I actually though LaToya's gown was a big yawn. Bobby's white gown was certainly 10 times better but again-it needed some work to draw in the waist becasue LaToya looked nearly boob-less in it.

Anyways, YOYO did you by chance have a look at Shinequa's 'behind the scene' SS pics that were recently posted on the MTTU Facebook page?-My gosh, if they whip her body into shape and prep her well for interveiw it will be nearly impossible to stop her from cracking the top 5 at MW next year and top 5 of MU in a couple of years. Her midsection reminds me of Kenisha Thom's body. If she could get some ab definition she will be a top 5 favorite at MWBB. I just hope someone in the pageant arena really takes an active role in developing this young lady's potential over the next couple of years.

I did, the one thing we know how to do, almost better than anyone else, is how to make a delegate fit. I think after the Transformation that was Kennisha Thom, who I really know well from way before her modeling and pageant days, every delegate after that realized and has to realize that they have to put in some work because the results are amazing. So yes i do think that with the right training Sheniqs will be in great shape however, its the things that you can't teach or train that i am concerned about for her. That confidence and bounce in the step so yes I look forward to seeing her transformation through the years if she keeps with it.

[> [> [> Subject: Saw Shinequa's swimsuit pictures. That girl has some serious potential. I hope they realise this and groom her for the future. So we are five days away from the new Miss T&T Universe. I cant wait to see Gabby being crown. She has it all to make a high placement at Miss Universe. I hope the judges see this and award her the crown on saturday. She seems determine to do well at Miss Universe.
