I thought we were nearly in the 21st century but I think I just stepped back into the 19th! Why should the dad necessarily be the bread winner? How sexist is that? Today there are so many different types of families, Often both parents have to work because the dad doesn't make enough. Sometimes there only is one parent or the kid is being raised by grandparents. Not everyone's family is ideal. But when someone does have a seemingly ideal situation where both parents are very finaancially well off then why should they adhere to any particular schedule? Everyone is supposed to have two months off and weekends? Who says? I must have missed that one in the law books.

I think every parent who is a good parent would love to spend more time with thier children if they could and I find any parent who is able to and does so should be commended, not told that they are supposed to only have two months off because that is the norm.
I especially admire someone in a position like DD who waits until they are finacially secure before even having children so that they can create a homelife to their liking which will be most beneficial to their children.

Both DD and GA DID want to end it after Season 7 but Fox put the pressure on. I think it got to the point where the writers ended up screwing up the rest of season 7 because they didn't know if this was going to be the end or not so we didn't have a proper wrapup. If things had ended this year we should have at least had a two part Season ender.

DD stated that things could go either way if Fox met his demands. He'd like to come back or he could just as easily could have left. Again I say it wasn't just to take time off to stay at home. It was to take time away from Mulder. I'm sorry so many people feel like he should continue to play Mulder for an indefinate period of time but he would and should be allowed o do othr things and not give a rat's ass what we think about his decisions. As for doing half a season, I don't know why everyone is complaining sill about that at this point. For months prior, by all reports, it was definate that there would be no season 8 at all. This is a gift to me! And DD just would not have been happy if he had to be around for the whole year which wouldn't have been all that fun to watch knowing how he felt.

But think about this, supposed he had agreed early on to come back for a full Season. Wouldn't we have had the same tired old plots we had for the past two years that you have disliked so much? We needed a fresh apporach and Mulder being abducted is just the kick we needed, much in the way the surprise pregancy of GA in Season 2 was. So really, things have worked out in a very intersting way so that we can have something to get excited about. Another regular Season with Mulder and Scully just investigating more paranormal cases would have been even more boring than many felt this past year was.

This is a great compromise for all involved including th fans. We go from having a somewhat lackluster Season 6 and 7 and thinking that's ther end to now having another year with some very intriguing plot developments to look forward too. Not to mention the fact that DD and GA I feel are happier about this situation then they might have been otherwise. DD's happy and I'M happy.

Sure I wish Mulder wouldn't be gone for quite so many episodes but I think the number is stil being batted around on that. But I'm intrigud by seeing more Skinner and Krycek and seeing how Scully deals with her situation and the missing Mulder much more so than I would be if we were going to get another season of full Mulder and Scully in eps like Theef and Chimera. Snore. This is better!

Sorry , but you're opinion about Return to Me holds no water in my book. I have this real big pet peeve and feel that any opinion given about something that someone hasn't even seen is not valid. If you want to say that the movie probably isn't something that YOU would enjoy because of your personal tastes then that's fine but don't blast it and say it's horrible when you haven't even watched it. Not fair. Bonnie Hunt, the writer and director is one of the most talented, funniest people in the business and this film showcased her talent beautifully. Oh and I can barely tolerate the Lifetime Network! That's not my cup of tea at all.

Return to Me wasn't "marketed or watered down" as ou said, at all. That proves to me that you didn't see it and know very little about it. It was actually very much off the beaten path and not like most other movies. If it had fit into some kind of tried and true marketed scheme then it would have been a bigger hit then, wouldn't it? And I can tell by your list of films/directors you like that something being successful and watched by the masses isn't what you are drawn to.

As for Buffy/Angel, I'm just not a vampire fan so the subject doesn't interest me. But you won't hear me say it's horrible crap because I haven't watched either program.

I could say something about my opinion of wrestling as a counerpoint but I'll be nice. ;-)
