About Scully saying something to Mulder about being irresponsible in this episode vs. not saying anything last episode- I think it may have been because this week she perceived him to be in a position where he could get hurt by believing Harold, whereas last week the one he was leading on was the jail pixie.

ITA about Skinner, and I also agree with you about the children! If we buy into the "starlight" theory (which I don't,) the children are supposed to go to a better place because of the suffering they endured in their own natural lives. The starlight rescues those who have suffered, converting their bodies (mass,) into starlight (energy.) Ummm... WHAT?!

The inconsistencies between last week's episode (which I liked!) and this weeks are so great... but not as huge as the departure from the established XF mythology.

I just read the posts below too. WOW! The opinions really differed on this one. Although, I will admit that I was moved when Mulder got to hug his sister, but who wouldn't be? I mean, the guy has been searching for his sister all his life, and he finally gets to see her. Even if she is dead, it was touching. But people liked the diary scene? Deus ex machina if I've ever seen it.

I do believe, however, that Samantha is dead. I remember reading a collection of stupid excuse notes in Reader's Digest the other day while I was in the waiting room at the dentist's. One note said something like "the reason Jenny didn't come to school yesterday is because we forgot to pick up the Sunday paper on Sunday. We picked it up on Monday and thought it was Sunday, so Jenny stayed home." My reaction: That's so stupid it has to be true.

Same reaction about Samantha's death.

hairytoes, waiting to hear a reaction from somebody who doesn't agree with me
