Keith's autobiography comes out at the end of the month. Amazon.com says he'll talk "a little" about Brian Jones. Any thoughts about what he'll talk about? I hope it is not the same old story about brian giving himself the extra five pounds.

Anybody believe it was a coincidence that both Brian and Keith sank to their lowest when in relationships with Anita, not that it excuses either of them, but... with Brian with the drugs and the Nazi photo, and Keith with the Heroin Addiction?

All the other Brian/Stones boards are showing the hot news that an Austrian fan was given memento's of Brian's, back in the seventies, by Brian's parents.
One of the memento's is a picture of Brian when he was just ONE AND A HALF HOURS old. Another is an identity bracelet. I'm sure everyone in Jonesville must have seen these pix by now, and the pix of the correspondence between this Austrian woman and the Joneses.
It is nothing short of staggering after nearly 40 years that we should be blessed with the revelation of Brian's parents having such an intimate relationship with a heart broken fan. It's hard to really take it all in. One thing for sure is that there is hard evidence to back up this girls story and this is not just a figment of a fanciful imagination.

There are loads of mistakes in the article in this link, but a nice bit on Brian, from Gerry.
I know the Reynolds get a mention and I know that Gerry was instrumental in setting up 'their' Brian fan club website, but as usual other folk take the plaudits without a mention of Gerry's input.
We all know what the Reynolds turned out to be, but let's stay positive and not get hung up on them.

This show didn't take us past Altamont - to be honest, I can't remember if it even got as far as that.
It did show the famous Keith interview when he talked about Brian's death, and how he thought, 'that some people were not destined to live to a ripe old age'.
I was very surprised when they showed some footage of Brian's funeral, especially as it was footage I've never seen before. I guess the best way of describing the footage is to say; that it showed the family standing over the grave, ala some still picture which is often aired on various Brian boards. It certainly let the viewer have a good look at those people standing closest to the grave. The footage also shows the coffin starting to be lowered into the grave. I got the feeling that the film had been colored up from monochrome, as the colors seemed overly vivid to be natural.
The internet being what it is, I'm sure this footage will surface very soon. Maybe it is on YouTube as I speak. If I'd have thought for a moment the whole interview only covered 'Brian's period' I would have taped it, but I thought it would very much concentrate on Keith and not be infilled with historic clips and interviews from Keith insiders, like James Fox, Stanley Booth and old Dick Tayor.

I finished reading 'Life'. Somewhere, mid book, it actually got reaonably interesting. In that section Keith concentrated on talking about his family, and didn't end each paragraph with some exuberant remark which had nothing to do with the subject matter.
I think it would be quite interesting to hear the audio version, while following the text of the book and see if the spoken word made it sound more cohesive. Of course, young Capn. Johnny Depp, being the narrator, be most surely a marketing tool, me hearties. This is definitely, a commercial; 'Brand Kee££££ Richard$$$$' venture above all else.
In typical abstract Keef fashion: I feel as if I want to re-title the book. 'Thug in a Pinstripe Suit'..........
.........Even 'Wannabee' seems an equally more apt title.

- Geralyn Seda, Board Founder R.I.P. -- Anthony Seda, 10:15:28 09/20/10 Mon (NoHost/204.95.127.7)
Hello all,
I am Gerry's son, Anthony. It is with a sad and heavy heart that I'm coming on to this forum to inform you of Gerry's passing. She died in hospice care at Buffalo General Hospital peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 17th, 2010. I know that this board and it's subject matter were a passion of hers. She will be dearly missed by me and her brother and I'm certain by you all as well.
I have heard her mention Pam Braley's name several times as helping moderate things here when she was having difficult health issues in the past. I think it is only right that this board continue on in her memory, the same way you all continue on the memory of Brian Jones. Pam, I hope you don't mind continuing on as official moderator of the board. I know she was pleased with the job you did while she was away.
Anyway, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I also win the award for worst first post ever. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers and play a RS song in her memory.
-Anthony Seda

I was reading the NY Daily News This Morning when I noticed a review by critic David Hinckley on Keith's "Life'. Laughingly, Keith's book review was on the bottom of a full page spread and in-depth article about NYC's problems with bedbugs, lice and stink bugs along with a 500X magnification of three of the lovely critters - and, of course, Keith grinning right there with 'em!
Obviously, some one at the NEWS has a wickedly funny sense of humour - I really don't think this was a co-incidence.
I Hope Brian, Gerry and Linda can see this and are having a good laugh at Keith's expense!

According to one source; Jimmy Page was bewitched by Brian Jones. He would join Brian on his early morning outings searching for UFO's, and made frequent visits to Courtfield Road.
Much is made of Alasteir Crowley's influence on Jimmy Page, but Brian also left an everlasting impression on Page. So much so that Jimmy furnished his house based largely on the Moroccan theme of Brian's Courtfield Road pad.
I think Jimmy had the kind of artistic intelligence and deeply spiritual soul to understand where Brian was coming from. In short Jimmy had empathy with Brian. The other Stones didn't have this capability to understand Brian, and they didn't really get Brian. They just knew that Brian could do things artistically that they could not; took advantage of that, and didn't care to notice Brian feeding himself to the lions, while they busily reaped the benefits of Brian's genius.

Dear Gerry:
There is love that comes and goes -- and there is love that really matters. You have exhibited the important love for Brian that has sustained his memory in a respectful manner for years. I salute you for displaying the loyalty of a love that remains steadfast and non-wavering. You are everything Brian should have had in his life during his time in this world. Unfortunately, he attracted, and chased after, primarily the fickle and shallow women of his "set." He was not granted the wisdom that may have come with age as to the type of support and sustenance in a relationship that is necessary. I believe that your love for Brian has gone beyond any mere idolatry or fandom and exhibits the utmost respect for him without any hope of personal gain.
You have my deepest gratitude for maintaining this board in his memory. Gerry, without your devotion to Brian I would not have "met" some very fine people who post here. I wish you continued good health and best wishes for your journey ahead. Thank you.
Cheers,
W.D.

Last night I listened to a radio programme presented by Micky Dolenz. Their was no Brian Jones content, but it profiled the musicians hanging around the Laurel Canyon area during the sixties.
Of course the Mamas and Papas and all of their strangeness featured strongly. Brian, I know was a good friend of John Phillips (Monterey connection etc), but I have no intelligence beyond that.(Though I wouldn't be surprised to hear Brian got it on with John's wife Michelle.) However the programme did highlight Mama Cass's magnetic personality, very much like Brian she appeared to be a very social being. (The Laurel Canyon scene seemed to revolve around Cass's world.) I just wondered if there is any eveidence that Brian, being the flitting little butterfly that he was, gravitated to this scene. I'm sure he would have hung out in the kind of environment described in this programme.
Something else I learned is that Graham Nash was romantically involved with Joni Mitchell. So really all of this scene is news to me.
Of course Brian's life is pretty well documented, but really if you add all of that documentation up (official or otherwise), it doesn't amount to a whole lot of time.
It would be interesting to hear any imput on Brian's movements. Or if any Brian's known associates were hanging around the Canyon.

Brian Jones mentioned in the October edition of Mojo as having played lead guitar on Nico's (Gordon Lightfoot penned), first single entitled, I'm Not Sayin' for Andrew Oldham's Immediate label. Nico sang the song on Ready Steady Go in 1965. No doubt this track will be floating around in cyber space somewhere?
It seems there is a letter from Nico to Dylan telling of her excitement at appearing on Ready Steady Go, especially so, as Nico was convinced she would be singing one of Bob's songs. The letter was dated May 1965 and was auctioned in London in 2002. No doubt some of you Brian Jones aficionados know something of this auction? By the tone of this letter, it seems Nico was pretty much besotted with Dylan.
As an aside; a couple of years ago I saw Gordon Lightfoot do a custom made acoustic guitar demonstration in no less a place than Cheltenham Town Hall. Gordon is a very proficient player with a great touch on guitar and a terrific sense of humour.

Did anyone catch Mick on the Larry King show a few weeks ago, regarding the re-release of Exile on Main Street? Towards the end of the interview Larry asked where the name of the band came from. Mick said he's afraid that's been lost to the mists of time. I know Mick and Keith don't give Brian any credit for his musical contributions, but jeez, he couldn't even give him credit for naming the band? They just want him forgotten, at all costs.
