I agree about Brian's parents. "Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way" aren't lyrics someone just randomly pulled out of their arse. It could be true of any culture, but, believe me, the English are particularly afflicted with this condition. No, I don't believe Louise recovered from Pamela. When you, culturally, are not allowed to grieve your loss properly, you cannot recover properly. I believe that she did not grieve, she struck out. Naturally, Brian was her target as he was just there. Lewis went to work. That's how they dealt. Keep calm and carry on, no matter how screwed in the head you become.

I know Brian did a lot of drugs, but I am firmly convinced that his A #1 problem was with alcohol. I think alcoholism is, in part, genetic. No one bolts out of bed at 6am to slug brandy in order to ward off the ensuing AWS (alcohol withdrawal syndrome). That's not just something I read, it was something I was told. He was physically addicted to alcohol. Withdrawing from herion is a piece of cake compared to alcohol withdrawal. It can actually kill you without benzos and even with benzos it is The Ride From F*cking Hell. If you google Alcohol withdrawal syndrome, kindling effect, wet brain, you can get a good picture of Brian. Crying and sleeping for days is all a part of it. So is the bleeding mouth when trying to play the harmonica thing. Alcoholics BLEED. They bruise. That's what they do.

If you can pass out face first in your duck a l'orange, you could probably pass out in your own pool.

My point is that it would not surprise me if you said to me, "He was definitely murdered and this is how it happened." It also would not surprise me if you said to me, "He definitely just passed out in his pool."

When it comes to Brian, I could believe either one.
