According to a 1969 issue of Rolling Stone magazine, rumors of foul play were circulating immediately after Brian's death. Journalist Pete Silverton wrote an article for Rock Diary 1983 which said Brian's head was dunked into a bucket of water and then he was thrown, still alive, into the pool where he drowned. Nick Fitzgerald appeared on a radio program and talked about Brian's death and his book was published in 1985.
