Woodstock has some very old houses. There is one, in nearby Lake Hill, that I used to go sit in for hours. It was for sale but the realtor was terrified of the place and told me I could go in anytime I wanted, but she wouldnt go near it. The front door was missing so I could just walk in. Upstairs it looked like renovations had been carried out, but I got the very distinct feeling the house wasnt happy with the changes. There was a groove in the floorboards where a wall had been removed, and if you stood on this groove all sound would cease, like being inside a vacuum, but step to either side and you could hear normal sounds again, like birds, traffic, etc. Very weird. I was told the past two owners, at different times, and both in their 30s, had dropped dead of heart attacks in this upstairs room. I wanted to buy it, but once I was sitting in the house when I heard a disembodied voice tell me it "was not to be", that my house was elsewhere. My house in Woodstock was new, characterless, but I did find my house years later, in Salida Colorado. Also very haunted, a very strange house indeed. And Cotchford was haunted, I can feel the presence of ghosts, always have.
