I have to disagree with this rule (or suggestion?). I compare it to introducing yourself to a friend every time you meet. If everyone can see the IP this means everyone knows who's posting, so why does it matter what name they use? The "name" is usually a joke referring to the current subject, so what's the prob?

I have to be honest - I get a distinct "we don't like any funny business here" vibe from your post. There are always going to be people who complain about anything. I admit I do sometimes get confused or misunderstand what a poster has said but I always know who's posting it.

Can you just change the forum to require a user to sign in, if this is such an issue?
