As far as why they didn't try and keep Mick Taylor around was actually pretty easy. At some of the live shows he would blow Keith off the stage. There is no comparing the two as far as their playing ability. The rule was always the band played off of Keith but there are shows where Mick T. would go off and the band followed him. I'm sure that didn't go over too well with Keith. I also think Mick T was getting screwed for his share of writer royalties (just listen to Sway and Moonlight Mile and you'll see what I mean).

I also think he realized what a pair the Glimmer twins really were. Could never figure out why Bill and Brian put up with it as long as they did.

If they did bring them back I'm sure they'd only want to pay them scale...sigh...
