He seems to have died from a ruptured aneurysm.

What was the name of Stu's girlfriend at the time, and where was she from?

Astrid Kirchherr. She was more than his girlfriend. They were married at the time of his death.

I've always been fascinated (well, the word may be a bit strong, let's say I've always been highly entertained) by the story of the Beatles in Hamburg.

If there is one thing that their story shows, as does that of the Stones and many others, it is that lasting fame and success are the rewards of countless hours of hard work.
