Tsk, tsk! Such hostility!

Brian didn't always "hate" himself. Before the Stones fell apart on him, he must have had a better opinion of himself. Regarding the idea that Anita was the only woman he ever "loved"...why didn't he ask her to marry him?

If a person truly loves someone, they're willing to give up their freedom for them. Brian was willing to do that when he asked Mona Ovendal to marry him. We all know she turned him down for her earlier love, Charlie (has anyone ever noticed how much Charlie looks like Brian?), and is still happily married to him today, and that could have set Brian on his downward spiral of confidence loss in the field of "heterosexual relationships"...or at least have contributed to it greatly. He wasn't "psychoanalyzed" until a few years later.

After Anita's defection, that made him 0 for 2 in the battle against other men for women. Poor guy. The ones who loved HIM didn't really interest him. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Such is the way of "love". It's a nasty bugger sometimes.
