Linda you are so very right!!
The darling thing is as commonplace as Cockney in England, everyone says it and in 99% of cases it means squat. Its just a salutation as normal as "cheers", or "dude" in the US. My son calls me dude, my best friend, who is gay, calls me either dude or darling. Since Im female, dude is a bit weird, but at least its friendly!
Brian was conflicted about drug use. Sure, he imbibed quite frequently, but he also tore into me upon occasion over my drug use, which admittedly, was on a scale of dangerous to deadly. I took it as concern. Of course I also ignored it. But with Linda Keith I see it as a man who was concerned, but refused to continue jeapordizing his own freedom by continuing to associate with her. Of course later on he apparently changed his tune, but that was Brian, always waffling back and forth. Theres your mental retardation! Brian was a sucker for a pretty girl. Its how he got himself saddled with dear Anna and then tried getting his friends to break up with her for him, although I dont think break up is the word I want. They were never a couple, but you know what I mean. He really did hate to hurt. Its why he resorted to violence and invectives. He would get so frustrated by his inability to just say what he meant that it came out badly.
I still maintain Brian might never have settled down with one girl and married. Youre right, he wouldnt have recognised her. But also, it just wasnt part of his nature to be monogamous, steadfast, and a family man. Brian was a dreamer, a Romantic in the true sense of the word, and those guys just dont see the tree inside the forest because they are too busy admiring the forest and all its beauty.
By the way, are you aware of the Facebook Brian Jones Friends and Family page? You might appreciate it, all of you here who dont know of it, please stop by and take a look. Its the biggest fan tribute page on Brian on FB, and Im one of the admins.
