It's those "interviews" again. Bill never claimed HE had anything to do with that riff at all...just Brian. Maybe I got the wrong impression, but the interviewer asked Bill... who'd just told him it was Brian who did the riff...if anyone else had an input into it. Bill's answer was, Quote: "No, Brian pretty much did it by himself." Now, what that "pretty much" meant could be significant.

I could be seriously misunderstanding the quote, and maybe as you say, he wasn't indicating Brian actually WROTE it. I've seen them do Satisfaction live on stage, and believe me, that riff was "canned". I never saw anyone, Keith or otherwise, play it on live stage or on camera.

Brian used two guitars together to get that sound on the record with no help from any other musicians. Perhaps THAT's what Bill was talking about...not the actual composition. If that's true, you've just cleared up a lifetime of misunderstanding about that riff and Keith's actual roll in it. That's a big gold star in your corner!!

Love and hugs!
