Brian looked to the past for a lot of his fashion ideas. Has anybody noticed how the Pirates in Johnny Depp's movies are dressed? Nobody seems to think that THEY are girlish! I think men wore lace, satin and velvet before women did! In the 1700's wealthy men wore all sorts of satins and laces with feathers in their hats...even powdered wigs! Brian never wore a wig...parish the thought he would hide that beautiful hair he was so vain about (ex: "I never saw so many cosmetics in a man's bathroom" - OldSpice), but he liked floppy hats. I think he started wearing his hair longer when he took up wearing hats...so the pretty stuff would show out from underneath them.

I think he believed in the Unisex movement that felt men and women didn't have so radically different anatomies to require separate types of garments. He liked what he liked, so he wore it...much to his social cost.

The only place's I've seen him in a dress were when the Stones were deliberately in "drag", and all the rest of them were doing it too. Brian looked like Marilyn Monroe! I loved his wizard robe in Rock 'n Roll Circus, but he never wore such a thing on the street...or did he??? In Monterey he wore the gold robe, but had pants on underneath. Maybe he had his limits??
