Hey Babycakes, My recent posts to Teardrop have been spiced with the type of humour you seem to have demonstrated yourself! Even the ever evolving names and message headings are supposed to be amusing! You were the one who brought up the subject of a humourless board! Unfortunately, I can't tailor my humour to, or predict how it will work, or be interpreted by a specific person at any given time - perhaps humour just doesn't work on a message board! I really can't get into that LOL, wink, etc jargon, but maybe that is the missing ingredient?!

Of course, I'm at a loss where I've been mean and heartless to Teardrop as I believed she knowed I was trying to be whimsical! I cares a lot about the health and well-being of Teardrop and all of the others on this board, and indeed for the health of this board, but I'm only a me, and a me don't have all the answers or ability to say the right thing each and every time I make a post! Being what it is a message board, does need a high degree of tolerance, especially one where the moderators have decided to run it with the level of flexibility they have! Moderation is a whole different kettle of fish, so I would make no comment on how it is undertaken/administered!

I don't pick on anyone. In fact if you check the board, apart from a recent flurry of posts, I've posted sparodically over the last few months. I know of no insider jokes and I don't intentionally favour or diss anyone. If playful banter seems to display either of the above, then I am guilty.

I didn't critcise Linda's work. I just pointed out the fact that I was uncomfortable with the poster like collages being on the main page. I gave my reasons why, and later enlarged on them. I didn't ask for them to be taken down. I suggested they might be worthy of special Linda Gallery Thread, which they so obviously are, and (having looked back over the threads), in all fairness to Linda, her original plan was to make an exclusive thread. I was pleased to see the huge support and love Jonesville had for Linda's artwork - why wouldn't it - it's brilliant. I was just a little surprised that folk like yourself read my message to be criticism of her work. Of course, words like 'circus', 'comedic' and 'in yer face' are emotive, but then: Just how do you convey to someone something which has no really easy way of being conveyed? I chose not to pussy-foot around for no other reason than putting my viewpoint across in a direct manner! I didn't make demands, I just thought my suggestion was valid!

As for Gerry. Way before I ever got here, she was experiencing some very nasty stuff. Or at least, from time to time, she alluded to unsavoury events. I did see some of that nasty stuff happen at a time I didn't post here, when at least one other board was set up from former posters here. It was an absolute disgrace and the way some people behaved truly made my blood boil - they should be deeply ashamed of themselves. The fact that they didn't manage to come here and pay a tribute to Gerry when she died, just adds to the contempt I feel for those folk. We are talking LOATHING!!! And so, from afar, I watched this board, in its other format sink and all but disappear. I didn't really know why it was being allowed to degenerate. Thankfully the guys who do the moderating here decided to regenerate the board on this format. I tried to play my part by bringing some (mostly crappy), subject matter to the table, and eventually some folk began to gain trust and faith in the board. I was just disappointed that Gerry had never been a part of that process, and of course that I hadn't known how unwell she was. Even now I have no idea if she was ever aware that the board had kick started itself, albeit a little spluttery, back into action. So yeah Gerry would have liked to see consideration on her board, but Gerry Seda was a fiesty gal, and she didn't mind a bit of edge being shown. Of course there are pitfalls, but above all else a Brian board got to have balls. He was a testy little chap who never seemed happy with ornery. Didn't he say convention in men scared him to pieces?

Anyway, this is a long post and it probably don't mean a darn thing. It will mostly turn out that it needs more explanation and we will all end up explaining the night away, instead of making ourselves a nice cup of hot chocolate, slipping into our nice dressing gowns and fluffy slippers and cuddling up on the sofa by the roaring fire. Well even I can dream! Though I really can't be assed checking this post for grammar and spelling.
