I could be wrong, but I believe that the only person who ever mentioned sleeping pills was Lewis Jones. But he wasn't there. Others have said Brian had had a bit to drink. More confusion (I agree with you here Sioux, very confused and confusing).

Even if Brian was on something that would have altered his strength and slowed down his reflexes, I'm sure he still would have fought for his life. Anyone would have. Even with his victim not putting as much of a fight, the perp (whoever he was) would still have had to stay submerged for a pretty long time, while fighting with Brian. Thus my main problem with the murder theory remains.

(Of course none of us is going to solve this...)
