I was just looking on a footy website, and i came across the article below, featuring recent quotes from Howard Wilkinson, funny as fuck...

Howard’s Way With Words

While we’re on the subject of Sunderland, well done to Howard Wilkinson for running Keggy Keegle close as Most Quotable Manager Of 2002.

In a whirlwind few weeks we’ve already had “Relegations don’t do anybody any good”, “If you hire people who are smarter than you, maybe you are showing that you are a little bit smarter than them” and the timeless classic "we have good players on paper but paper players win paper cups”.

A pre-match press conference on the Liverpool match, reported on SAFC.com, delivered this insight into the Anfield club’s European exit:

"The dual carriageway that Liverpool were travelling on has now become a single carriageway. The league is the only position from which they can qualify for the Champions League.”

And Wilko’s post-match assessment, as recorded by The Sun, featured these words of praise for two of his revitalised players: “Five weeks ago Jurgen Macho would have struggled to catch a beach ball” and “When I arrived, Tore Andre Flo looked like a baby giraffe who had just popped out on to the veldt.”

Superb.
