Anyway..

Fan Fiction 4 or againsed?

As a writer of fan fiction I can't really complain, but I think it is the kind of fiction that I am bringing into question.

I have always written pantomimes at Xmas starring friends and famous people, they have been pretty silly. (Surprise surprise!)

I can't write romantic fiction at all, so I tried to disect what the problem was that i had with other romantic fan fiction and I think what makes me cringe is that half of me is saying 'Eddie wouldn't say/do that in that way', so part of it is me thinking I know Eddie better than everyone else which is pretty sad in itself!!

The other problemo is that the leading lady (the writer) always gets her man (Eddie). Not very realistic!!Anyway, maybe I am missing the point, that's probably how it is supposed to work.

Anyroadup......What I want to know is what you lot out there think, don't listen to me, i'm not slagging anything off, just trying to disect things........

- I have to say I'm with you on this subject, MW. Maybe it's coz I'm so repressed but some of the stuff makes me squirm, and not in a good way. I was tempted a while back to submit a satire on the fan fiction, sort of all panty and silly with a sort of wry twist in the end, like finally noticing as you go in for the hot snog in the end, that Eddie has a big ugly cold sore on his lip, summat like that, but shit, lately I can't even write emails! - I'm not into fan-fiction. I have my own fantasies. I read a couple of the stories and it gave me a very creepy feeling. I feel like I am invading something very personal... kind of like hearing your neighbors having sex. I think it's great for the people who want to share their creative side and for those who enjoy reading it. It's just not my thang. I love silly fiction, though. That's just FUN!!   - Yeah that's it, there's a voyeuristic part of it, but I just realized why reading it makes me squirm. You know how you have an image of yourself and then you see this funny looking stranger in a shop window as you are walking down a sidewalk, and then with a jolt you realize it's you? Well that's what reading some of that fan stuff is like. Suddenly your fantasy, or something very close to it, is out of the secret shadowy recesses of your mind and out there in bold harsh daylight for all to see.       - I think for people that love to fantasize about Eddie and are adept at writing, I think it's a great outlet for them and it's great Amy has provided a place where folks can submit their thoughts. But for me personally, I'm just a boring person I guess and don't think I fantasize about anything much really, even Eddie. So I'm not interested in reading other folks fantasies, especially about Eddie. Ego stroke or not, I would feel a bit strange if I were Eddie knowing all these people are fantasizing about him.         Somehow I don't think he likes it at all! I mean he likes that women have the hots for him, but somebody told me that they heard he gets upset about some of the long threads of fan sexual fantasies. But I notice that they seem to have disappeared, well, along with most everything else! Does he ever fear losing his fans? I wonder if he sometimes longs to be an unknown again.
