Subject: Hey thanks Magenta for the slap of reality! However on the point of health care, yes I know you have got problems but you have to live here to fully experience the horror of our health care nonsystem. Here you only have health care coverage if your employer offers it as a fringe benefit, and once you lose it, if you have a chronic condition you cannot get it again except at extortion rates. About 45 million Americans have no coverage at all and the number keeps growing exponentially every year. The horror stories, the suffering is immense here!
In reply to: Dorene- But thanks Magenta! for the looksee. 's message, ""From the Redwood forests, to the Gulf Stream waters..." but the OTHER way round. and America won't join in. Stay happy and curious, lovely Bin! We are not local people here. We know stuff is like that all over" on 17:04:22 07/01/01 Sun

  • Wow! I haven't thought of that song in yeaaaars, Dorene! "...This land was made for you and meeeee!" Sheesh!. Okay, just to add a bit of negativity here-- or not, depending on what you think-- I don't place my hand over my heart during the Pledge of Allegience. Why should I swear my heart and pledge allegience to a FLAG? How silly! "...and to the republic for which it stands..." errrr republic? With Bush in office? "...one nation, under god (that's big of us!), indivisible (errrr, wasn't our nation completely split down the center just to decide our own leader? errr YES), with liberty and justice for all. That's a good line. Is there liberty for all? Naaah. Is there justice for all? Naaaah. Nowhere. But at least we aren't jailed for being female and for speaking our minds. • Hey gang! That's precisely my problem with America now....I know everywhere has it's problems but we are a huge country who constantly says how wonderful we are....We are big and loud and trying to tell everyone in the world how to do things when we can't take care of our own! It wouldn't be so bad, I guess, if the American government weren't shouting in everyones faces how wonderful we are....'cuz..we're not so much. I don't know much about the whole European Union thing but from what little I've heard it want's to kind of be like us...please don't....we certainly can't be a role model for that system. Bin! I have a big problem with the pledge for the very reasons you state! The 'indivisible' bit gets me because we have federal laws...but sometimes state laws supercede those and sometimes not...why not have laws that are uniform throught the country...if we are truly one nation then we should be just that.
