Subject: Witchblade Marathon
Just letting you all know that TNT is running the Witchblade Marathon today from 10 AM to 10 PM. Included is the 2 hour movie followed by the 11 episodes.
Personally I've been enjoying the unique mixture of cop drama and the supernatural connection theme that runs throughout the episodes. Yancy Butler is quite compelling as a New York cop. And there is a good bit of eye candy including Ian, Jake and Conchobar.
If you have the time, tune in. If nothing else, it's amusing to pick out LFN alumni, sets, and Toronto locations. :)

Hi, Schnee. :D I don't watch the show unless I surf past it and see something I like. (r) -- Shirleym, 12:33:37 08/27/01 Mon
That happens once in a while - especially if I see the set of Ops' perch. I think it's fascinating what they've done with it. And when the camera pans to the left and you get a little glimpse of the hallway, still just as it was from Section days, my heart beats a little faster. LOL
Here's a question for those original Star Trek series fans.
Last night, I caught the scene between the old man (who's face was looking miiiiiiiiiighty bad) LOL and his "doctor"?
I thought I recognized the doctor as the man in the two parter Star Trek who was terribly disfigured, couldn't talk and was confined to a futuristic wheel chair. He had a lot of makeup on in the Star Trek eps, but I thought I recognized those eyes. Did anyone else notice?
I also caught the last three minutes of the very last ep of Witchblade so now I know what everyone was talking about. Pretty cool :-)

Shirley, short answer is no. Long answer is in the reply. -- Nestra, 21:17:40 08/27/01 Mon
Captain Pike was originally played by Jeffrey Hunter, in the first Star Trek pilot, titled "The Cage". When that pilot wasn't picked up, they actually shot another pilot, called "Where No Man Has Gone Before", with the Captain we'd all come to know and imitate, Shatner.
They used the footage of the first pilot and created a two-part episode called "The Menagerie" with it, framing the original footage with a new storyline. That's the episode with the crippled Captain Pike, but because Jeffrey Hunter was off having a movie career, the guy in the wheelchair was played by Sean Kenney. And according to his listing at IMDB, he wasn't in Witchblade.

May I chime in??? Re: the Star Trek reference to Jeffrey Hunter? -- Petty, 16:38:37 08/29/01 Wed
Jeffrey Hunter was actually up for the part of Captain Kirk BUT his wife had too much to say on the matter (LOL). So he lost the part to William Shatner.
There was an old joke circulating on the Message Boards among Trekkers. It seems there were those who were so enamored of William Shatner (even tho even I like to poke fun at him) that when he was killed off in the 7th movie, there were those who thought he got a raw deal. To this day those fans (and Shatner) don't believe he's really dead.
Sorry, but I always have to chime in on any topic dealing with Star Trek!

Chime away, Petty! I loved the way Captain Kirk died. I thought it was really true to his character. I wonder how Scott Bakula will do in the New one. I always liked his acting. -- Shirleym, 13:19:46 08/30/01 Thu

Petty, I think I have some sympathy for the Shatner fans--they must have felt like Matthew's fans did when Birkoff bit the dust. I really would like to see TPTB think long and hard before they kill off beloved characters in a series. I really am looking forward to the new ST. Do any Trekkers out there have a preferred ST hangout on the web? -- Susan W, 23:52:13 09/01/01 Sat

Speaking of killing characters off, I got the first four episodes of "Scoop" at the con and I have to say, (R and spoiler for Scoop) -- Shirleym, 11:41:26 09/02/01 Sun
I think it was a shame that they had to kill off Tinker's turtle so early in the show. :P
{{{ca-runch}}} Oops

T'nt is having a marathon and didn't tell me yet. I'm going down there and join her asap. I look at Witchblade just to see the sets and props they "borrowed" from LFN.
Firestone likes to economize.
