Take in the extent of my sin

A crisis with an old friend had had him out of town for the last couple weeks, which had actually worked out okay because he needed to take some vacation time this summer anyway and it had been good to get out of here for a bit. Truthfully though, he had found himself relieved to be back - and that was only partly due to the fact that his vacation had been more like damage control, and mostly due to the fact that this place was almost kind of growing on him. His afternoon had been spent checking messages returning phone calls to clients and potential clients, but the moment that night had fallen, he had showered, changed, and headed out here. Faded jeans hung low but fit closely to his trim hips and were genuinely frayed in a few spots and lightly spattered with paint - the real deal, but they looked more designer than scrubby, and the rest of his clothes were in the wash - and he wore a long-sleeved thin black tee that provided just enough protection against the slight chill to the night air. He was strolling the dimly lit sidewalk with a cigarette in hand, on his way from his car to the bar that he typically frequented - in absolutely no hurry, just taking in the edgy atmosphere down there with something close to affection...
