Jan and I came over the mountain that way from Lakes Entrance through Omeo and stopped at the Cuckoo Clock Shop there. I know what you mean about the unsealed road as the drovers were taking their cattle up higher and we got stuck behind them. It took ages to get to Bright but we enjoyed it just the same. It's a lovely drive up over the mountains to Dinner Plain then on to Mt. Hotham. Parts of that road are simply breathtaking. We stopped at one spot right at the top and the silence was deafening. All we could hear were flies, birds and the wind gently kind of humming in the background. It was warm at Hotham so we decided to stay and watch the sunset. Once the sun had set within 30 seconds we nearly froze and hightailed it back to the car. God's own country up that way though. Don't tell me you towed your van up over that mountain? Still, "Cuddle Doon Cabin" was waiting for us so it was well worth it. I'm just sorry we never got to see you at Bright because it really is a great spot. We've made lots of nice friends in that park. If you go through that way to Albury again go to Yakandandah and there's an Austrian couple that have an Austrian tea room there with the best strudel you've ever tasted. There are road signs directing you to it. She's expensive but worth the stop. Our Austrian friends Monica and Hermann took us there just on a day trip when visiting Beachworth and the surrounding areas and of course being able to speak to each other in their own language was great for them. Camping holidays are fabulous. How I envy you and Betty still being able to get out on the open road. Used to be we couldn't wait for Fridays to come around to get to Bright.
Still Hepburn Springs is beautiful too and today we spent the day at Lake Jubilee. That's great wee park too Jack. Only 68 permanents and it has the lake with fishing and barbecues right in front of you. Presently all the water lilies are out and it's very picturesque. There are peacocks wandering around which are tame and will eat from your hand. Good spot too if you have nothing to do one weekend.
