If you are looking for a new pistol that will give you the power of a .44 Magnum, but will be more affordable, the .429 DE is one of the best options out there. Not only is it more affordable, but it is also more accurate and reliable. Here are a few things to consider about this new round.
Magnum Research
A few months back, I rolled the proverbial dice on a Magnum Research BFR. To date, it's been a good buy. The company's newest creation is a well-oiled machine, and my harried husband hardly complained. We're big fans of the company's Baby Eagle and a handful of the company's other high-end offerings, including the MLR.22Mag. There's just one caveat: the gun isn't cheap. As with most manufacturers, you'll need to shop around. Some retailers carry only a select few models, while others offer a wide selection of the ilk. After all, you'll want to be able to pick and choose the best deal available. Thankfully, the company's online store has an in-house customer service department, and they're on call in case of adversity.
HSM Ammunition
The Desert Eagle pistol has a long history and cult-like followers who are drawn to its big build and hard-hitting calibers. To further enhance the Desert Eagle platform, Magnum Research developed the 429 DE round. This cartridge offers hot new performance in an accurate, reliable, and efficient package.
In addition to the four-shot, 210 grain bullet, the 429 DE cartridge case features an elongated neck. This allows for a tight bullet crimp.
The barrel is crafted from stainless steel, and includes muzzle brake ports. Extra barrels are available in various finishes. Burnt Bronze Cerakote(tm), Brushed Chrome, and Polished Chrome are some of the options. These spare barrels are compatible with the MK19 USA and Israel Desert Eagle Pistol.
The bullet used in the 429 DE Desert Eagle pistol cartridge is designed by Speer and is based on the 50 AE design. It has an elongated neck and a sharp 30 degree shoulder. This combination creates a cartridge that has 45% more energy than the original.
Availability in the US
The new 429 DE pistol from Magnum Research is a solid effort at getting the elusive bullet out of the bottleneck. It boasts a 240-grain soft point load that is a little more powerful than its predecessor. It also features an elongated neck and a 30-degree shoulder.
The 429 DE is a more powerful version of the popular 50 AE. It's an efficient and reliable pistol that delivers good accuracy and has a smooth recoil. There is less of it than anticipated. However, the nifty-looking 429 DE still remains a tad expensive.
The 429 DE is only available in the Mark XIX Desert Eagle variant. This upscale version comes with an integral muzzle brake, a Picatinny rail, a stainless steel frame, a 6-inch stainless steel barrel, and a stainless steel slide. In addition, a laser sight has been added to the front end of the receiver for better sighting.
Comparing it to legacy .44 Magnum and .50 AE rounds
If you're looking for a new handgun to add to your collection, you might want to consider the 429 DE from Magnum Research. This rifle-caliber cartridge provides an impressive 25 percent increase in muzzle velocity compared to the legacy .44 Magnum and .50 AE, and it's a surprisingly affordable option.
The 429 DE carries a large round size, which means that it weighs more than the corresponding magnum. It also has an impressive muzzle flash, which helps the gun's reputation for putting rounds downrange in a hurry. Another thing to consider is that the magazine capacity is less than average combat-grade 9mm handguns. However, this shouldn't be a problem if you are a hunter, since a large wound channel is a plus.
