Subject: The Phenomena of "Broken Glass Republicans"

As coined by Peggy Noonan I believe....her way of stating that the GOP stalwarts would crawl over broken glass to get to the voting booth to vote out those Demoncrats!

I wouldn't count on a switch in 2004 necessarily. Bush and Co. very clearly have 1994...leading to 1996 in mind. The Bush crew gave out "no gloating" orders and it's been followed pretty well. Bush didn't even comment the day after and stayed out of sight...calling winning DEMOCRATS in addition to GOP victors. His press conference yesterday was firm but not gloating either...the GOP does NOT want a repeat of the Gingrich debacle. I'm sure Bush will govern like he has a mandate (like he did after 2000...and this time he DOES have one...) but he's not going to publicly crow about the fact that he has one.

As long as the economy doesn't get worse, an Iraq war doesn't go badly and, probably most importantly, the Democrats remain clueless, shrill and without an alternative message or plan...then Bush and the GOP will do just fine. It'll be an interestinig 2 years.
