Yes, I have read a book Gift of Dyslexia by Ron Davis and it is great !
Gives a lot of explanation about LD , as well as a hope and believe that with appropriate therapy/learning it could be overcome .
I even call a Davis method facilitator here in Vancouver BC ,
had a very nice talk about whole approach/help.
I'm waiting yet for standard tests to be done ,
before I have make any decision which program/help to take .
Price of testing is about 2800 $ Can (privately)
same or similar as Davis method approach (price).
And I have a great hope in it, it sounds believable and logical to me ,
but first I have to learn if my darling child has dyslexia or not .

All the best , and again book is GREAT!

The book Gift of Dyslexia is a book and program many people rave about. I don't know much about that specific program, but I do know what definitely works:

What is called an "Otron-Gilllingham" program (there are about 10 out there). Dyslexia is largely based on a phonological processing deficit. it is easy to diagnose, and does not have to be really costly, depending on how many sub-tests you want, and whether or not you would like a written report.

I work with students on-line, through video conferencing, and can test your child in this way. Go to www.napareading.com to find out more!

Good luck to you!
