The book Gift of Dyslexia is a book and program many people rave about. I don't know much about that specific program, but I do know what definitely works:

What is called an "Otron-Gilllingham" program (there are about 10 out there). Dyslexia is largely based on a phonological processing deficit. it is easy to diagnose, and does not have to be really costly, depending on how many sub-tests you want, and whether or not you would like a written report.

I work with students on-line, through video conferencing, and can test your child in this way. Go to www.napareading.com to find out more!

Good luck to you!

If you read The Gift of Dyslexia and it touches a chord with you, then it is worth exploring further. The methods are very different from most others. They are very person-centred and build on the strengths of a visual-thinker.By understanding how the dyslexic thinks and how to self-manage your thought processes, it becomes possible to achieve many literacy goals.
You can work from the book which is why it has a sort of 'script' in the back, get a kit&manual from the www.dyslexia.com website or work with a licensed Facilitator.
My son did a programme and the results for him, and the effect on us as family, were so significant that I trained to become a Davis Facilitator!
