I recently read an article written by an ex-cop which confirmed many of my observations from when I rode with them as part of my sociology coursework.

He said that cops are encourgaes to only report crimes for which they have an arrest because a crime without an arrest doesn't do anybody any good. If rookies can't get a handle on this idea, then they are slow-rolled off the force. The door swings both ways -- if there's an arrest, then there's a crime; if there's a crime which can't be ignored, then somebody gets arrested. Houston Texas comes to mind.

He also said that felony arrests are the best and are sought after; often happening when a policeman creates an altercation which can be elevated to a felony when the victim resists. Yep.

The .08 thing is absurd and wrong and we need to make that clear to Washington. The blood alcohol thing has always been bad law; more about control than protection. The law wasn't good at handling impaired conditions as specifications to real events (like accidents), so it made the condition illegal. Just like bad law, if it can't figure out how to deal with something, it deals badly with everything.

Anyway, things come in waves, so maybe yours has passed. But, they'll be watchoing you if you live in a small town, small brained jurisdiction where the cops are more about egos than protection.
