First, if this is something that has you “fuming”, I envy your life and how easy it must be. If you don’t enjoy watching adults compete because you don’t think they are up to your standards, you are free to simply not watch. I also take issue with the notion that adults don’t work hard and make sacrifices. Most adult dancers I know have way more demands on their time than children, making dance class a luxury they can’t always afford. And believe me, they would be thrilled to be treated like everyone else in the dance world. We have no prelim nor open championship categories to aspire to, which is why there is no qualification. When I was competing I would have been thrilled to have the opportunity to work my way up in a competition of my peers to the highest possible level, just like everyone else does. The powers that be don’t want adults dancing at worlds, so nationals is all we have. The fact that we don’t have a specific qualification above and beyond teachers’ discretion isn’t our fault nor is it our preference. And please don’t suggest that we drop down and dance in the overs. Kids dance with their peers and so should everyone else. We don’t need our own organization and this isn’t intramural sports. We don’t need to be excluded just to make other people feel better about their own awards. I do agree that we should be held to a high standard if we want to compete at nationals with everyone else. We have been asking for years for extended age groups and championship categories that would enable us to dance at that level. Feel free to write to CLRG and tell them how you feel about it. I’m sure they’ll listen to you just as well as they’ve listened to us.

  • The problem is CLRG and their ridiculous adult categories not the adults. Do you think they DON'T want to be treated the same as everyone else with age categories and grade movement and proper qualification? CLRG happy to take their money but treats them shamefully. And who forced you to watch them anyway! (More) -- (More), 23:48:49 07/08/25 Tue
