Subject: My Christian Gentleman Caller of Yesterday (forgive me if this falls into the religion ban)

First of all, let me state that I am not posting this to start a fight with anyone. I am not saying that all Christians are like this man. I just want to relate this very true story...

Yesterday, as I was sitting quietly and minding my business, a man comes into my shop and begins talking to me about Jesus Christ--- over the counter, in my place of work, mind you. Upon learning that I was not a Christian, he asked why and began launching into a sermon, telling me the benefits of his wonderful Christian life. I began to argue rather pointedly with him. He became quite flustered at moments. His eyes would practically glaze over as his mind attempted to hide his own incompetence to deal with logic. He would then stand before me, rapt, as if receiving transmissions from the "Bible Mother Ship" and parrot a bunch of verses from John or whatever. The fact became quite obvious to me and everyone else around me that the man was a forked tongue individual with no ability to think outside of his bible verses. When all I did was repeat back his own words and point out to him how absurd those words were when looked at critically, he accused me of putting words into his mouth! He then accused me of not looking at the Bible critically, which I told him I had. I then related my Lutheran background to him. This approach led him to attack Lutherans as a church that does not teach the true words of Christ! I really could not keep from laughing throughout the conversation--- at how flustered he became, at his own inability to listen to his own words, and lastly at the fact that when all else failed, he resorted to attacking other Christians! Where do these people come from?

He kept saying to me, "I hope you will reconsider. I hope you will give it more thought..."

I answered by asking, "Why? Is it because my life is lacking?"

Whereupon he immediately answered, "Yes!"

Now, is this not the height of absurdity and arrogance? Yet, how many Christians think this way? How many believe that the poor unbelievers lead a life that is lacking because, in a nutshell, the unbeliever has chosen to believe a different set of illusions than the believer?! I'm afraid the answer is that there are more out there that believe this than I would like to admit to. Practically every Christian I have ever argued with believes this.

Later, I led the conversation to a differnet perspective: We began talking about good and evil. I got him to admit that the division of good and evil occured only in the mind. I then got him to see that the Universe, devoid of the human mind, would not have good or evil, for if the only place it occurs is in the mind, then it must necessarily not exist without the human mind. He then glazed over (as was his wont when confronted with anything resembling common sense) and spouted forth some bible jibberish that didn't even relate to the point I was making! When will it end? Why do these people feel they have some bloody mission to shove their religion down other people's throat? Do they realize how dangerous this mentality is? How different is it than the damned Muslims who blow up towers? Ay-yi-yi!

Please, if there is a vestige of sanity left to us, let us run there now and seek refuge from the idiots of the world!!! They are coming to a town near you!
