It is on a lake; West Turtle Lake

I do wish they'd make it's location a bit clearer. In Busted Axle Road it's mentioned they need a long eye lens to get a photo of Jennifer from across the lake and the only spot they can use is mosquito hell. The only two spots that indicate a likelihood of being mosquito hell are the two marsh areas, one on the south side of the main lake and one near where Spearfish River comes into it. Add in a long eye lens is for VERY long distance photography, usually over half a mile or more, the two smaller lakes are just too narrow for the need of such a lens, yes a long distance lens, but not a long eye.

However, if the club is located at the bend in the lake so the spot opposite would have to be the far end of the lake, then the long eye would be needed. Thus you'd have half the lake in front of the club and the other half off to the right.

I also just remembered something from one of the stories with Josh running the train. He looks out to see the top of the commons from the train track and the way it's mentioned leaves me with a feeling it's to the north of the train track, thus supporting your statement.
