what is that tree with the orange (colored) fruit?

My first thought from the size was, "maybe it's an osage orange"? Except, well, at least in this area, the tree looks nothing like that! But the fruit are suitably large.

Wes usually posts pictures from his area and none of the citrus fruits grow that far north. My guess is an apple tree.

It's an apple tree, although the apples were pretty well shot.

Osage orange isn't an orange. It's actually closer to a mulberry. They are not uncommon around here.

I received some "orange fruit" for Christmas from a friend of our family. In South Louisiana people grow an orange citrus fruit called satsumas. They are similar or maybe identical to tangerines. The skin peels easily away from the fruit. This batch was sweet and tasty.
