So do I.
I wonder why, though, no mention was made of the
recording studio that was supposed to be attached to
the furniture store? I've often thought that Dayna &
Sandy, Shae and of course Myleigh and others would
be using it.

It's possible that the entrances to the recording studio and of the unarmed combat training room are fairly discrete and Tricia didn't really notice them when she went to speak to Danny.

It's interesting to see mentions of earlier stories...

Maybe I'm just going to stick my foot in it, but here goes -What would Dayna, Sandy and Shae be doing in Spearfish Lake?
They are all Bradford people.

That looks very much like a spoiler from someone who has read the entire book. I think that counts as "sticking your foot in it".

The way Chapter 7 ends I have a sneaking suspicion that Wes is About to throw us a major curve.

See you Wednesday morning!

I've thought the same thing for at least the last two chapters.......

The proverbial shoe to drop with the main problem Dr. York will have to deal with for the remainder of the book. I suspect "Hiding Patty" will involve Danny & Debbie (for some katara wisdom) as main characters whilst updating the other characters in the entire SL universe.

But then again, I'll just have to wait like the rest of the serial readers.

Wes always drops little clues and its so much fun to try and identify them. How about a Clinic involving Tricia,
Gene, Carole and Janice as a nurse? Of course, a therapist
would be required and he could be the "man with a past."

Patty starts with a recap of square1 last chapter, but they dknt mesh very well. Name of retiring doc as one example.

Well, you may recall Myleigh performed Dayna's "Survival"
song at her next concert after visiting her grandfather's
grave. Not a stretch for Trey to contact them about
Jennifer's "New Age" studio. So, too, Shae was considering
recording children stories and Dayna had performed in
elementary schools. Both live in Bradford.

Please, a little more enthusiasm. Something like ... Dr York's story is better Dawnwalker, Blue Beauty, & all the Canyon stories combined ... would be appropriate.

I have a lot riding on this tale. It was not easy to blackmail Wes into this venture ... Something about revealing there is a room full of monkeys, each writing his own versions of the tales while Wes lives the life in Bora Bora.

So, let's start telling West how great Patty's tale is. Mark Farmer

I love this story and I say that without any pressure from Mark or threats of blackmail or dark hints of mayhem, whatsoever.

I've just reread River Rat and was idly wondering about the two photogs.. how many characters brush up against the main-lines that people end up wondering about? York is, in retrospect, somewhat obvious, as there was a lot more interaction between her and Danny than compared to, say, Phadre/Jennlyn/Crystal/Scooter.

I find it hard to imagine a story centered on, say, Teitlebaum (the accountant,) or some others, but I have to admit that at the beginning, I wasn't sure where there was much of "a story" in Emily Holst, (even if it was shared with several others,) yet Homesteaders is, in some strange way, one of my "guilty pleasures."

I agree Leo.
For me, it is not picking a favorite Wes story but appreciating the total works and how he connects them -
Roger in "Catails" with Jim in "Winter Layoff."

I apologize for that 'west' mistype. This so called corrective software sees mistakes where there aren't any. And my proof reading guarantees that I'll never be an editor. Mark.

In Chapter 7 Wes used the name Nola Johnson for a great singer. Was this a little name twist on Norah Jones who is one of my favorite singers?

To tell you the truth, I don't remember any more -- except that I used Nola as a "mentioned" character clear back in Alone Together. I've never written about her directly, just someone mentioning her, and then only two or three times. Now that I think about it, she may have been mentioned in Blue Beauty as well.

All that said, I do love the way Norah Jones sings and I know I had Dayna doing one of the songs she's known for in Hat Trick. "Wow," a bluesman whose name I can't remember at the moment said. "And to think that used to be a Hank Williams song."

In Blue Beauty I'm sure that Frank Oldfield is the guy that
Trey will be recording for at Blue Grass Festivals. What webs you weave Web!

>I like what I've read.

These opening chapters show the man Danny has matured into as much as they reveal Dr York's wonderment at Spearfish Lake & its inhabitants.
