My Cal 2-27 seems to very similar to your 29. It's plenty stable and quick enough for the Great Lakes. I don't know that I'd want to be on it for extended sails in high winds. It was blowing 22 knots the other day and we didn't go out. We went out the next day at 15-17 and turned right around as the chop and wind were in different directions and made for an uncomfortable ride. No real danger, just not fun. I'd want a 39 or 40 to cross the Pacific comfortably. However, for sailing the coast the folkboat draws just under 4' which is great for unfamiliar waters.

They're almost identical. Unless they're side by side, you can't tell them apart. Btw, in case you're not on the Cal_Boats Yahoo group and haven't seen this, a guy named Joe DeMers is parting out a 2-27. If there are any parts you're looking for, you should give him a call: (860) 666-2184
